La ambición de esta publicación en dos volúmenes es para ilustrar la aplicabilidad de la pedagogía social como un paradigma académico y profesional para trabajar los objetivos más diversos con las poblaciones. Se puso en marcha en un momento importante y muy interesante en el Reino Unido: un país sin un modelo de pedagogía social tradicional ha comenzado a importar la pedagogía social de los países con una tradición de la pedagogía social.
"Social Pedagogy for the Entire Lifespan", ilustra a la pedagogía como un modelo que en la teoría y la práctica ha sido y está siendo utilizado actualmente, en toda Europa y alrededores, para el trabajo con personas de todas las edades.
El Volumen II propone capítulos sobre el trabajo con adultos (incluyendo los problemas sociales, discapacidades físicas y mentales) y las personas mayores, escritos por autores con sede en Bélgica, Dinamarca, Noruega, Polonia, España, Suecia y Suiza.
Los lectores encontrarán capítulos que reflexionan sobre las implicaciones en cuanto al uso de las teorías educativas de conceptualizar la pedagogía social, así como la pertinencia de los debates de la formación continua, no sólo en el ámbito académico, sino también en la política. La dimensión mundial está cubierta por un capítulo sobre la relación entre América Latina y la pedagogía social europea.
